The Armenian Church

The Armenian Church in Hill Street is the oldest church in Singapore. Built in 1835, it is designated as a national monument.

On 15 April 1981, the Vanda Miss Joaquim had been selected from among 40 contenders (including 30 varieties of orchids) as Singapore's national flower.

The Vanda Miss Joaquim was first found in the garden of a Jewish woman in Singapore, named Agnes Joaquim, in 1893. Her grave is in the churchyard of the Armenian Church at Hill Street.
